Weather and Ski Conditions

Hello Okemo!

This morning, as the national news has been promising for at least a week, it is cold! Like the rest of the country, we are experiencing unseasonal temperatures today. However, if you do come to ski and ride, you will be greeted with wonderful conditions. The cold air makes the snow light and fun. We are skiing and riding today on 114 trails and will have 18 lifts running. All mountain areas were groomed overnight.

Our bubble lifts, the Sunburst 6 and the Evergreen Summit Express, will open at 8 AM. The Coleman Brook Express & Quantum 6 in the Jackson Gore Base Area will also open as scheduled at 8 AM. The Southface Quad & Sunshine Quad will open no earlier than 9:30 AM to give our Lift Maintenance teams the opportunity to open all lifts safely. The Sachem Quad & Glades Quad will not operate this weekend.

It is important today to wear layers and cover exposed skin. Take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and look out for each other. Our culinary outlets will have lots of hot chocolate, chili & soups to warm you from the inside. Join us at the Coleman Brook Tavern, 43 North, or the Bull for a hot toddy! Our retail shops are fully stocked for all your cold-weather needs. Pop in for a proper face mask or those heated gloves you didn’t get for Christmas.

The good news is that this cold is only expected to last through today, and then Mother Nature makes it up to us with a forecast of nearly 14-18” of snow today into Monday. And as we learned in 6th-grade earth science, cold temps make for champagne powder! Make a last-minute reservation at the Jackson Gore Inn and take a few well-deserved mental health days at the start of next week.
