LUDLOW, Vt. - As preparations for the 2018/2019 ski and snowboard season take place, the big news is that Okemo is now Epic. On June 4, 2018, Vail Resorts, Inc. announced that it had entered into an agreement to purchase Triple Peaks, LLC, the parent company of Okemo Mountain Resort in Vermont, Mount Sunapee Resort in New Hampshire, and Crested Butte Mountain Resort in Colorado. The announcement also included, as part of a separate transaction, the purchase of Stevens Pass, in Washington. Vail Resorts plans to invest $35 million, over the next two years, across the four resorts to continue to elevate the guest experience. The 2018-19 Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Epic Australia Pass, and Epic Military Pass include unlimited and unrestricted access to all three resorts, with seven and four unrestricted days for the Epic 7 Day and Epic 4 Day passes, respectively. In addition, In addition, Vail Resorts will continue to honor all 2018/2019 Okemo season pass products. The Vail Resorts acquisition of Okemo Mountain Resort was finalized in September 2018.
Assorted projects taking place around the resort in preparation for the upcoming winter include the upgrade of Okemo’s snowmaking system. A multi-year project to increase water flow to the mid-mountain area has seen the replacement of 12-inch pipe with 16-inch pipe that, this year, has been connected to another 6,000 feet of feed lines to increase efficiency in the resort’s snowmaking system that covers 98 percent of trails across the mountain.
