LUDLOW, Vt. – Okemo Mountain Resort’s annual Ski and Snowboard Swap to benefit Okemo Mountain School is scheduled November 17 to19. The Swap is the place to gear up for winter with new and used equipment, clothing and accessories at great prices. In addition to snagging some great deals, skiers and riders can feel good about proceeds from their purchases benefitting Okemo Mountain School, a non-profit educational institution dedicated to the academic and athletic development of serious snowsports athletes.
The Clock Tower base lodge at Okemo Mountain Resort will be transformed into a bargain hunter’s haven, and early birds are bound to score the best deals. The sale will be open Friday, November 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. (3 to 4 p.m. is the early-buy hour. Admission is $5 for the public or free for Okemo employees) The Swap will be open from 9a.m. to 5p.m. on Saturday, November 18, and from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. on Sunday, November 19.
Skiers and riders who are interested in selling used gear (no skis, boots, or bindings older than 7 years will be accepted), can sell it on consignment at the Swap. Okemo Mountain School will receive 25 percent of the selling price and a check for the remainder will go to the seller about three weeks after the Swap. Donated equipment is also welcome, and all donations are tax-deductible.
No donated or consignment gear will be accepted during Swap hours. All gear must be dropped off at the Sitting Bull Restaurant (via the slopeside entrance near First Aid) in Okemo’s Clock Tower base lodge: Saturday, November 11, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Sunday, November 12, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Wednesday, November 15, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Okemo Mountain School relies heavily on fundraisers like the annual Ski & Snowboard Swap to help keep tuition affordable. Okemo Mountain School athletes are given the opportunity to train in alpine ski racing, snowboarding, and freestyle skiing, while pursuing a rigorous course of academic study.
