LUDLOW, Vt. – May 9, 2019 – There’s nothing like summertime at Okemo Mountain Resort, in Vermont’s Green Mountains. Long days, starry nights and a variety of events and activities make Okemo an ideal destination for every member of the family to enjoy. Summer operations have already commenced with the opening of Okemo Valley Golf Club in early May. Okemo’s Adventure Zone is scheduled to open for the season on May 25, and Okemo’s Evolution Bike Park will begin offering lift-served mountain biking and scenic chairlift rides starting June 29. Okemo’s lineup of signature events returns with live music and celebrations of the season.

2019 Summer Activities:

Okemo Mountain Resort Adventure Zone

Located just steps from Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn, this hub of activity and outdoor adventure is open daily during the summer season and features fun for all ages. It all started with a mountain coaster and grew quickly to include miniature golf, disc golf, bungee trampolines, zipline tours, a treetop challenge course, Segway tours, bounce houses, a climbing wall and more.

Mountain Biking
The Evolution Bike Park at Okemo features six lower-mountain trails with berms, bridges, boardwalks and rollers accessible by Okemo's South Ridge Quad A chairlift out of the resort's Clock Tower base area. Scrambler, Okemo’s premiere summit trail, is an advanced/intermediate 3.2-mile run that descends 2,000 vertical feet to the base of the Sunburst Six chairlift. Additional trails from the summit have been added to offer even more challenging descents. The full-service and fully outfitted Evolution Bike Shop is located inside Okemo’s Clock Tower Base Lodge.

Scenic Chairlift Rides
Okemo’s Sunburst Six chairlift is not just for mountain bikers during the summer. It also welcomes visitors who would like to experience a scenic chairlift ride. The Sunburst Six accommodates up to six passengers at a time and provides an incomparable perspective of the surrounding landscape. At the summit, visitors can explore and hike to the summit fire tower for an incredible 360-degree view that includes the mountains of Vermont and surrounding states.

Okemo Valley Golf Club
Vermont's first heathland-style golf course features a championship 18-hole layout and a welcoming, full-service clubhouse. The course is a par 70 that measures 6,400 yards in length and features bent grass greens, tees and fairways with multiple tee areas for each hole, ensuring playability and challenge for all ability levels. Rolling hills, moderate elevation changes and wide fairways with well-placed hazards enhance the beautiful heathland layout. Designed by Vermont golf architect Steve Durkee, Okemo Valley Golf Club has hosted the Vermont PGA Championship, NEPGA Senior Championship, the United States Women’s Public Links Qualifier and various Vermont professional tournaments. An 18-acre training area is an ideal place to learn how to golf or fine tune some skills. In addition to private lessons and daily learning programs, weekly clinics and a junior golf camp are planned this summer.

Summer Lodging Deals
Okemo’s Great Summer Break invites guests to enjoy the comfort and convenience of staying where they play while saving 20 percent on lodging rates. Every summer visit of two consecutive nights or more, anytime from May 15 through the summer of 2019 qualifies for the Great Summer Break discount. Summer Events:

Jackson Gore Summer Music Series, June 7-August 30

A Friday night tradition for area visitors and locals, Okemo kicks off every summer weekend with a free lawn concert from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Jackson Gore Inn courtyard. Concerts feature popular regional musical guests. Lawn chairs and picnic blankets are welcome, but no outside alcohol is allowed. Al fresco dining is available at Coleman Brook Tavern’s patio, and Okemo’s all-American barbecue at the Roundhouse serves traditional cookout fare, plus a selection of beer and wine. Okemo’s Adventure Zone observes special twilight hours every Friday evening during the concert series.

Okemo’s All Come Home Music Festival, July 12-13

Legend has it that the word “okemo” is an Algonquin Indian term meaning “all come home.” This must-attend homecoming party is the musical event of the summer! Okemo’s Jackson Gore base area transforms into an outdoor concert venue for two days of live music, great food, drink, and family fun in the hills of Vermont.

Hops in the Hills Beer and Wine Festival, August 2-4

This multi-day celebration has previously been cited as a Vermont Chamber of Commerce Top Ten Summer Event. The festival showcases an impressive lineup of beer, wine, cider, live music, marketplace vendors and delicious food options – all in the beautiful outdoor setting of Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn courtyard. Okemo’s Adventure Zone, just steps from the sampling tents, food trucks and vendor marketplace, offers zipline tours, miniature golf, disc golf, a treetop challenge course, a mountain coaster and more. Admission to Hops in the Hills is free!
