Okemo golf courses open for the season04/28/2017
LUDLOW, Vt. – Okemo Valley Golf Club opened for the season on Thursday, April 27, with all 18 holes of play.
“The golf course is in splendid shape as we look forward to another very active season,” said OVGC Head Golf Pro Michael Santa Maria.
Okemo Valley Golf Club is Vermont's first heathland-style golf course and features a championship 18-hole layout, a welcoming, full-service clubhouse, indoor practice facility, putting greens, driving range and 18-acre state-of-the-art outdoor training center. The layout is a par 70 that measures 6,400 yards in length and features bent grass greens, tees and fairways with multiple tee areas for each hole, ensuring playability and challenge for all ability levels. Rolling hills, moderate elevation changes and wide fairways with well-placed hazards enhance the beautiful heathland layout.
In 2016, Okemo Valley Golf Club earned the top spot in Vermont in Golfweek’s Best State-by-State Courses You Can Play. OVGC has won numerous national awards and is recognized as one of the top golf facilities in the Northeast. Golf Digest named OVGC the top public course in Vermont. The course was designed by Vermont golf architect Steve Durkee. It has hosted the Vermont PGA Championship, NEPGA Senior Championship, the United States Women’s Public Links Qualifier and various Vermont Professional Tournaments.
Early-season rates on greens fees are in effect through Memorial Day weekend: 18 holes walking is $39 and $61 with cart. The rate is $25 walking or $36 with cart for 9 holes. OVGC offers a variety of ways for golfers to save on rounds of play. In addition to club memberships, monthly play passes and preferred play cards offer significant savings plus tee times available up to seven days in advance. Golf-and-stay lodging packages are another great way to save on a golf getaway at Okemo.
OVGC’s 18-acre training area is an ideal place to learn how to golf or fine tune some skills. In addition to private lessons and daily learning programs, weekly clinics and even a junior camp are planned this summer.
Tater Hill Golf Club, located in nearby Windham, Vt., is scheduled to open for the season starting April 29.
