An Okemo Wedding
LUDLOW, Vt. – Okemo Mountain Resort offers a variety of venues for wedding ceremonies and receptions. With indoor and outdoor spaces that accommodate 30 to 300 guests, Okemo is the ideal setting for an intimate celebration or a grand wedding gala.
“Wherever they turn for advice,” says Okemo Banquet & Conference Sales Manager Lynn Anthony, “newly engaged couples will find that the top three items on the to-do list for planning a wedding include budget, guest list and venue. The location of your wedding and reception will help influence other decisions along the way … things like style, theme, color palette and more.”
Among Okemo’s many venues, Epic, located at the Solitude Day Lodge, is the newest addition. A wedding at Epic is like no other. Guests arrive to an on-mountain ceremony by way of a scenic chairlift ride to the top of Okemo’s Solitude mountain area. A stunning mountain vista is the backdrop as the bride and groom exchange vows among family and friends. Back inside the Solitude Lodge, just steps from the base of the chairlift, the culinary team at Epic works to make every wedding reception as memorable as the ceremony. A concert of culinary mastery, superb service and the whimsically eclectic atmosphere of the setting will make any couple’s special day as magical as they can imagine.
Another recent addition to Okemo's wedding ceremony venues is The Toll Gate Garden. Once a coach stop and tavern for travelers making their way along the historic Green Mountain Turnpike that linked west-central Vermont with Boston, the old homestead was the site of a toll gate; one of four located along the road – the vestige of which still runs past the farmhouse and garden. Respectful of the property’s history, cottage gardens with flowering shrubs and classic perennials line the edges of what is now a country lane, and border a low enclosure constructed of stone recovered from the property. A stone patio makes a picturesque altar for nuptials. A shaded sanctuary garden space, ideal for an intimate ceremony or wedding-party photos, is located across the tree-lined lane. The Toll Gate Garden easily accommodates a wedding of 200 people.
“Couples fall in love with The Toll Gate Garden when they see it,” said Anthony. “It’s easy for them to picture themselves in this quintessential setting with all the amenities of The Jackson Gore Inn just a short stroll away.”
Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn offers a variety of options for hosting wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners or reunions. One of the most popular locations for an outdoor ceremony is the Jackson Gore Inn courtyard. Beautifully landscaped with weathered stone and mature plantings around an expanse of lush lawn, this setting is convenient to the inn and the Roundhouse, a popular reception venue. The close proximity to one of the resort’s chairlifts allows brides and grooms to make a dramatic arrival, if they choose.
Okemo’s banquet staff is made up of many seasoned veterans. Executive Sous Chef Jason Tostrup spends his winters as the chef at Epic, the resort’s very popular mid-mountain lunch spot and Snowcat Dining Adventures destination. During the summer and fall, Chef Jason sets his culinary sights on weddings and banquets – working closely with Okemo Executive Chef Scot Emerson. Lynn Anthony, who has been with Okemo for more than a decade, has coordinated hundreds of memorable weddings and events.
