Okemo welcomes winter with more improvements homefront Okemo Mountain Resort Winter 2017/18 A CLOSER LOOK GROOMING Okemo’s dedication to creating a superior snow surface continues this winter with the addition of two new grooming machines. Okemo is adding a Bison and a Bison X to its fleet of Prinoth Beasts. What makes the Bison a powerhouse is its high-performance engine. With an output of 261 kW (355 hp) and a maximum torque of 1,562 Nm, it translates into pure power for slope grooming. The Bison demonstrates excellent maneuverability and climbing ability in even the most adverse conditions. The Bison X is the ultimate park vehicle, providing innovative park-building features that can shape any park with ease and absolute precision. The Bison X distinguishes itself with the shaping of jumps, pipes, rails, and more, as a true funpark expert. Okemo is also rebuilding its Zaugg Superpipe Cutter to ensure meticulous grooming of its 450-foot long Superpipe. For the snow tubing park, Okemo has added a new tubing lane shaper. This piece of equipment attaches to any grooming machine and ensures more uniform lanes for the safety and enjoyment of tubing guests. SNOWMAKING Upgrades for this season include a new 16-inch feed pipe from Okemo’s Base Pump Station to Mid-mountain Pump Station. From there, new pipe is being installed on the popular Jolly Green Giant trail. Okemo is also adding new HKD SV 10 snowguns, bringing its arsenal of snowmaking tower guns to 1,300 mountain-wide. The HKD SV 10 is a low-energy workhorse, capable of multiple flow adjustments. It uses internal mix nucleators that are customizable to meet the needs of Okemo’s climate and snowmaking objectives. RENTALS & TUNING Okemo is continuing its rental equipment replacement program with the purchase of more new skis and snowboards this season. And, to keep all that equipment, plus the equipment of resort guests, in top condition, Okemo is upgrading tuning equipment in the rental and tuning shops at both base areas. okemo.com > 802-228-1600 > page 23
