Okemo Valley Golf Club Men’s League results, May 21

LUDLOW, Vt. - A sure sign of summer approaching, the Men’s League at Okemo Valley Golf Club kicked off its annual pursuit of the Commissioners’ Cup on May 21. The opening night format was a team-of-four scramble that took place under blustery, challenging conditions, Built Rite MFG grabbed top honors. Chris Garvey, John Smith, Rick Doyle and Tim Faulkner combined to shoot a splendid six-under-par 29. Knight Tubs finished second. Mark Falango, Bob Fortuna, Bob Cook and Terry Thayne combined to shoot a five-under-par 30. Rounding out the top three places was Diamond Realty. Roger Danyew, Scott Howard, Ron Bixby and Bob Ahlers combined for a four-under-par 31. Closest to the pin winners were Bob Ahlers on the 14th and Trevor Benson on the 17th.

Okemo Valley Golf Club Ladies’ League Results, July 24

LUDLOW, Vt. – Week nine of the Okemo Valley Ladies’ League proved to be a difficult format for all on July 24. A combination scramble/alternate-shot/best-ball format made scoring very stingy, and a challenge. In the end, the Northern Naturals team of Sue Horsman, Mary Lou Shaw, Kathy Grant and Jaclyn Diesenhouse made their way to the top honors with a 74 total. Finishing a very close second, with a 75, was the Stryhas Builders team comprised of PegCariddi, Donna Tedford, Madeleine Fay and Jane Harrington. Closest to the pin winners were Marion Pickielnok and Darlene Remy.

LUDLOW, Vt. – The second week of Okemo Valley Golf Club’s Men’s League saw a change in format on June 4, but the same team that won during the first week of league play took top honors again. Format of play was team-of-two best ball, combined holes won for the two groups making up the team of four. Built Rite MFG. won the week with Chris Garvey, John Smith, Ed Whitman and Tim Faulkner combining to win 11 holes out of a possible 18. Second place went to Green Mountain Appraisals. Dave Higley, PJ Garvey, Doug Lemire and Jack Cassidy combined to win 10.5 holes. Rounding out the top three was Knight Tubs. LUDLOW, Vt. - Okemo Valley Golf Club rolled into week four with a new format, team of two alternate shot, and the results brought the field a bit closer. Stryhas Builders won the night as Peter Girouard, John Goodrich, John Pick & Chuck Sweetman combined to win 11.5 holes. Diamond Realty won 2nd place, as Roger Danyew, Clemente Delarosa, Bruce Zanca & Bob Ahlers combined to win 11.5 holes. Third place was won by, HWC Financial, as Kevin Theissen, Mark Montgelas, Trevor Benson and Peter Modisette combined to win 10.5 holes. Making a sweep of the closest to the pins was Roger Danyew as he hit two fine shots on holes 4 & 8.

Only one point separates the top two teams. Winning the night, July 9, in this week’s team-of-two-best-ball format, and moving up the leaderboard, was Knight Tubs. Lou Falango, Bob Fortuna, Ken Guy and Terry Thayne combined to win 14 holes. Finishing second, and inching up the leaderboard a bit, was Sotheby’s Realty. Pat McLaughlin, Larry Plumb and Craig Peters combined to win 11 holes. Rounding out the top three, and now only one point out of first place, was Built Rite MFG. Sotheby’s Realty moved up the board a bit as Pat McLaughlin, Larry Plumb, Charlie Howard and Fra Devine combined to win 10.5 holes. Rounding out the top three, and remaining in third place overall, was Knight Tubs. Lou Falango, Bob Fortuna, Ken Guy and Terry Thayne combined to win 9.5 holes. Okemo Valley Golf Club Ladies’ League Final Results

 

LUDLOW, Vt. – After the final round of play of the Okemo Valley Golf Club Ladies’ League on August 14,the 2019 championship title goes to DJ'S Restaurant. Lee Ann Haskell, Suzanne Garvey, Karen Reynolds and Pam Plumb took top honors in what will be recorded as the closest finish in Ladies League history. The 11-week season ended with very close scores on the final night of play. It was the Northern Naturals team that rose to the top for a one- stroke victory after shooting a team score of 29. The Naturals edged out DJ's who scored an outstanding 30 for second-place honors. The night’s closest to the pin winner was Kathy Grant and demolition putt-off winner was Sandy Killian.
