GROUP HUGS FOR ALL

LUDLOW, Vt. – There’s something exciting about going on a ski trip with a group of family and friends. Skiing and snowboarding are social sports and the camaraderie generated by an assemblage of like-minded enthusiasts creates an atmosphere of adventure. A day of playing in the snow builds memories and Okemo’s group sales professionals work to ensure that those memories will be the best that they can be.

Okemo loves groups and accommodates parties of 20 or more with personal planning assistance than includes:  lift tickets, lessons, rental equipment, meals, dining, après ski and alternative activities like ice skating, Nordic skiing, snowshoeing and more. Groups visiting Okemo have access to exclusive motorcoach parking, a private ticketing center and special extras like an at-the-ready pizza package for the drive home after a day on the slopes. A dedicated staff attends to every detail in planning for a group visit to Okemo and follows through with aplomb – from the moment of arrival until it’s time to say, “see you next time!”

Sometimes a day trip just isn’t enough. Okemo’s Group Sales associates can help with accommodations too. Whether it’s on-mountain with slopeside accessibility or more budget-minded lodging a short drive away, Okemo’s Group Sales staff is tuned in to the local community and can help groups find a perfect fit.

Okemo makes a great choice for all kinds of group gatherings and specializes in weddings, business meetings and corporate retreats. To meet the demand, a new meeting facility is planned for Jackson Gore. The Meeting House, Okemo’s conference center, is one of the final elements scheduled for completion within Phase II of Jackson Gore. Buildings already completed in Phase II include the Spring House fitness and aquatic center, The Ice House skating pavilion, and Adams House, with Bixby House scheduled for completion this winter.  The plan for the conference center includes multiple meeting rooms of varying sizes designed to accommodate groups from 50 to 500. It will also include a business center and state-of-the-art meeting services and equipment.  Construction is expected to begin during spring 2008, with a 16- to 18-month completion schedule.

“We are excited about the business this facility will bring to Southern Vermont,” says Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn General Manager Charlie Dickerman. ”We look forward to hosting corporate meetings, association groups, fraternal organizations, educational conferences, and social and entertainment events.  We expect to bring an added boost to the local economy by way of meeting attendees who we expect will explore and patronize area business offerings.”

Dickerman added, “The conference center will undoubtedly bring more full-time, year-round job opportunities - both on and off the mountain.”
