Nov. 21-23 – Annual Ski Swap and Sale
Here’s a great opportunity to purchase new and pre-owned ski and snowboard equipment, clothing and accessories at great prices! All proceeds benefit Okemo Mountain School. Sellers keep 75 percent of the selling price and OMS receives 25 percent. Call (802) 228-1513 for more information.

Feast at Coleman Brook Tavern and at Willie Dunn’s Grille

Nov. 29 – What I Learned This Summer Rail Jam
A rail jam competition open to skiers and snowboarders of all ages. Participants are encouraged to showcase the new tricks they learned over the summer.  $15 entry fee.  Registration 8 to 10 a.m. in the Okemo Clock Tower base lodge mezzanine. 11 a.m. start.
 
Nov. 29 – Annual Okemo Season Passholder Cocktail Party
This homecoming welcomes back all of Okemo’s season passholders with a celebration of the season inside the Okemo Base Lodge Great Room, 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Dec. 2 – Ladies’ Days - Calling all OKEMOMMAS!
Tuesdays are officially Ladies’ Days at Okemo.  All ladies can ski and ride all day on select Tuesdays for just $39. And the savings continue with a group lesson for just $25. Girlfriends, sisters, mothers and grandmothers will also enjoy a ladies’ day out on the slopes December 9, 16; January 6, 13, 20, 27; March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.

Dec. 20 – Last Chance Santa
Santa Claus makes a Jackson Gore grand entrance at 4 p.m., for a final pre-Christmas visit with children before the jolly old elf makes his way to the North Pole for final holiday preparations.

Dec. 20 – SoBe S-Rail Jam
Skiers and riders can test their skills on the SoBe S-Rail and other new rails this season. A $1,000 cash purse is at stake. $20 fee. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Comp starts at 11 a.m.

Dec. 25 – Ski and Ride with Santa and Friends
Santa and his merry crew will be cruising the slopes on Christmas Day. When kids find him and his basket filled with goodies, they may even take home a prize! Christmas Day Buffet at Willie Dunn’s Grille.

Dec. 28 – Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Display
Spectacular pyrotechnics show starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Okemo Clock Tower base area, following an amazing torchlight parade of skiers and riders traversing down the mountain.

Dec. 29 – Vermont Institute of Natural Science Free Presentation for Families
This complimentary presentation features “The Bear Facts” with a step into the bear den! Take a look at fur, teeth, claws, and the deep silent mystery of hibernation. Myth and mystery team with science for this sneak peek into the life of Vermont's largest predator. Families will discover why the black bear is considered an umbrella species, investigate the importance of wildlife travel corridors, and delve into the details of human/bear interactions. The program is open to the public. 7 p.m. in the Roundhouse at Jackson Gore.

Dec. 31 – New Year’s Eve
Coleman Brook Tavern offers a Gala Celebration and Willie Dunn’s Grille features a more casual New Year’s Eve Buffet. Kids’ Night Out activities are available for young resort guests.

Jan. 17 – Fireworks Display
Okemo’s kickoff to the holiday weekend. Prior to the spectacular fireworks show at 7:30 p.m., visitors can enjoy a winter warmer in the Sitting Bull Restaurant & Bar, located in the Okemo Clock Tower base area.

Jan. 18 – Vermont Institute of Natural Science Free Presentation for Families
This presentation features an assortment of live animals for an informative and entertaining evening event for families. "Cold Blooded Critters - Slimy or Scaly?” An assortment of live reptiles and amphibians (herps) will be presented to discuss the differences between the two groups and to discover why these "indicator species" play such critical environmental roles. This live animal version includes a visit from a wood turtle, boa constrictor and salamander. The program is free and open to the public. 7 p.m. in the Roundhouse at Jackson Gore.

Jan. 17-23 – National Safety Week
Sponsored by the National Ski Areas Association, fun and educational activities focus on safety and awareness on the slopes with children’s clinics, safety messages and helmet demos. Starting Jan. 17 and running through Safety Week, anyone who purchases a new ski or snowboard helmet at Okemo's Snowsports Shop will receive a coupon for 50 percent off a full-day lift ticket, or 50 percent off a full-day equipment rental or high-performance demo, or 50 percent off a group lesson or specialty clinic. Some of the week’s highlights include Okemo’s “Helmet Head” contest, a visit from Vermont’s own PHAT (Protect Your Head at All Times/Protect Your Head on All Terrain) team, a Safety Scavenger Hunt, and a Safety Awareness Poster Contest for elementary-school-aged children.

Jan. 24 – Okemo’s Gala Ski Ball – Feelin’ Groovy
This invitational black-tie event benefits the Okemo Community Challenge, which provides educational grants and charitable endeavors to local schools.

Jan. 31 – Match My Trick Superpipe Competition
Head for Okemo’s SoBe Superpipe.  It's like HORSE in a halfpipe – the first person to go is automatically in first place.  The next person to match a trick or do a better trick moves into first.  Missing a trick means elimination and the last person throwing tricks wins!  SoBe is sweetening the deal with tons of swag and $1000 purse to division winners!

Jan. 31-Feb. 1 – Okemo Valley Winter Carnival
Okemo Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce celebrates winter with loads of fun all day and night.  Festivities include snow sculptures, a parade,  a snowman decorating contest, a bonfire and fireworks!  For more information, call (802) 228-8530.

FEBRUARY 2009

Feb. 6-8 – Women’s Alpine Adventures – Three-Day Program for all ability levels
This program is designed exclusively for women and led by some of the best female ski and snowboard coaches in the business.  Their goal is to take skiing and snowboarding women to the next level in any snow conditions and on any terrain.  Participants quickly overcome fear, build self confidence and meet new friends in a supportive and social environment. Feb. 14 – Valentine’s Day Celebration
Find the Liftie with a Heart Contest and Heart Scavenger Hunt. When kids find the lift attendant wearing a Valentine heart, they must get his name and report it to the Okemo Ski & Ride School desk for a special prize. Another ten hearts are hidden somewhere Okemo’s trails. When kids find one and bring it back to the Okemo Ski & Ride School desk, they win a special prize bag filled with goodies!  Confections will be provided by M&M Mars. Couples can celebrate romance with a cozy candlelight dinner at Coleman Brook Tavern or Willie Dunn’s Grille.

Feb. 18 – Vermont Institute of Natural Science Free Presentation for Families
This presentation features an assortment of live animals for an informative and entertaining evening event for families. “Raptor Encounter” is a first-hand encounter with live falcons, hawks, and owls focusing on the natural history, ecology, and adaptations of these efficient predators. Participants learn what adaptations make a bird a raptor. The Raptor Encounter is a great introduction to these specialized flying hunters. Touchable artifacts and hands-on materials round out this special experience. The program is free and open to the public. 7 p.m. in the Roundhouse at Jackson Gore.

Feb. 19 – Snickers Marathon
Okemo’s second annual Snickers Marathon brings the whole family together for a day of fun exploring 26 Okemo trails. Each contestant will get an entry card and will have to punch the card at 26 specific locations around the mountain. The first ten contestants to return to the base area with a full card will win! Prizes provided by Snickers and the Snickers Marathon Bar.

Feb. 28 – SoBe Bus Ride
Ride the Bus at the NorEaster Terrain Park.  Okemo’s newest terrain park feature is a modified SoBe bus – that’s right, a full-sized bus! The stereo will be cranking with a DJ inside the bus … and oh yeah - $1000 purse is up for grabs.

Feb. 28 – Pro-Tour Comedy Night
Co-sponsored by Vermont Properties & Development, this side-splitting night of professional comedy will have guests hypnotized with laughter. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.. March 1 – Okemo Super-G Open
A Super G course on Chief will reward skiers and snowboarders with the overall fastest times with a pair of Atomic skis and a snowboard! Competitors will be divided into five age classes for both skiers and riders. $20 entry fee. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and race starts at 11 a.m.

March 3 – Ladies’ Days - Calling all OKEMOMMAS!
Tuesdays are officially Ladies’ Days at Okemo.  All ladies can ski and ride all day on select Tuesdays for just $39. And the savings continue with a group lesson for just $25. Girlfriends, sisters, mothers and grandmothers will also enjoy a ladies’ day out on the slopes March 17, 24, 31.

March 11 – VT/NH Wonderful $39 Wednesdays!

March 14 – Spring Demo Day sponsored by Mary Davis Realtor & Associates
This event is open to the public and features top brands of the latest gear from a variety of ski, snowboard and snowshoe companies.  Snowsports enthusiasts can visit the Jackson Gore base area to test-drive the latest in equipment at no charge. A credit card imprint and signed waiver is required.

Ten shamrocks will be hidden along Okemo’s trails. When kids find one and bring it back to the Main Base Lodge Ski & Ride School desk, they win a special prize bag filled with goodies!  A St. Patrick’s Day Party sponsored by Guinness will feature musical guests Gypsy Reel from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Sitting Bull Bar & Restaurant.

March 28 – Joey Jam
Joeys - they are everywhere.  This is a chance for skiers and riders to embrace their inner Joey and compete for the ultimate Joey Prize, a used Chevy Camero!  Entrants will be judged in three categories: Jump Skill, Rail Skill, and Costume (designer jeans and Starter jackets earn big points).  The rails will be easy and the jumps small, but costumes are sure to be elaborate. 

March 31 – Ladies’ Days - Calling all OKEMOMMAS!

APRIL 2009

April 1 – April Fool Food Drive

It’s no joke! Donate a minimum of three nonperishable food items and ski or ride free on April Fools Day, Wednesday, April 1. All donations go to local food banks.

April 2 – Okemo Skier & Rider Appreciation Day – Ski or ride all day for just $29!

April 4 & 5 – Okemo’s Annual SlushHuck Weekend - Wacky Spring Celebration
This celebration of sun and snow includes the Slush Cup, Splash for Cash and Cardboard Box Race. This traditional rite of the season takes spring fever to a whole new level!
April 4 - Okemo Slush Cup
The object is to ski or snowboard down a trail and skim across an 80-foot-long slush pond without falling into it! It’s a chilly spring dip for those who don’t make it. Open to the first 125 participants. Entry fee is $20. Participants win fabulous prizes. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the pond skimming starts at 11 a.m.
April 4 - Splash for Cash
Go big and get wet!  Three huge kickers will be built at the edge of the slush-cup pond. Contestants will get one shot to go big and get wet. Best freestyle tricks and biggest splashes will win top honors. Two age category winners will split the registration fees and go home with some soggy dollars in their pockets!  Register for both the Splash for Cash and the Slush Cup for only $30. Splash for Cash starts at 1 p.m.
April 5 - Cardboard Box Race
Contestants must build a snow-sliding racing sled out of only corrugated cardboard and tape (plus decorative features) for a wild ride down the slope at the Jackson Gore “Cardboard Box Raceway.”  Teams of three (must be 18 or older) must ride in the sled. Sleds will be judged in two categories: artistry and construction. Bonus points for team costumes. There will be awards for the fastest sled and best self destruction of a sled while on course. Join Harpoon Brewery in the Sitting Bull after the race for a cold beer and prizes. Discounts on Harpoon drafts will be available all day long!

April 8 – VT/NH Wonderful $29 Wednesdays!
Vermont and New Hampshire residents can ski/ride the entire day for just $39. Proof of residency in the form of a valid VT/NH driver's license, hunting/fishing license, or voter registration card must be presented at the time of purchase. Also available April 15, 2009.

April 9 – Okemo Skier & Rider Appreciation Day – Ski or ride all day for just $29!

April 12 – Okemo's Annual Easter Egg Hunt
At Okemo’s annual Easter Egg Hunt, the hills are teeming with colored eggs stuffed with prizes, but there’s only one oversized Golden Egg hidden on one of Okemo’s trails. The lucky bunny who finds that, wins a pair of skis or a snowboard.

April 15 – VT/NH Wonderful $29 Wednesdays!
