GULLY BOYS JAM AT JACKSON GORE OUTDOOR MUSIC SERIES
LUDLOW, Vt. – The Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series continues July 18 with a return visit from Vermont’s own Gully Boys. Concertgoers will be transported back in time to the heyday of the jam band for this free concert in the Jackson Gore Inn courtyard.
The Gully Boys, a ragtag group of friends who found common ground in the music of the Grateful Dead, Phish, Little Feat and other jam bands, have been together 13 years. “Together, however, doesn’t quite describe their many permutations,” says leader and vocalist Bill Temple. “There’s been at least 20 guys that have come and gone, and come back and left, and come back again.” The Gully Boys typically hit the stage as a five-man combo. The current line up includes Al Romero and John Sigafoos on guitar, Dave Clark on bass, Ron Rost on organ and Andy Hanscom on drums. The Gully Boys’ motto is “if you can’t make it up while you’re playing, you shouldn’t be playing,” and an improvisational spirit still guides the band. “We’ve always been about the jam,” says Temple.
On Friday nights throughout the summer season, the lawn in the courtyard at Okemo’s Jackson Gore Inn will be transformed into an outdoor concert venue featuring renowned local and regional entertainers. Admission to the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series is free. The grounds open at 5 p.m. and concerts are slated to run from 6 to 9 p.m. Families are welcome and all attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. Summertime barbecue favorites and refreshments will be available each week and concert-goers may also dine at Jackson Gore’s Coleman Brook Tavern. Okemo’s Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series is sponsored by Pepsi, 101.5 The Fox, Oldies 104.5, Q106, and The Hatchery.
Following The Gully Boys, the summer lineup for the Jackson Gore Outdoor Music Series includes: Adam Payne and 2Adam12, July 25; The Few, Aug. 1; Spiritual Rez, Aug. 8; Michael Cleary Band, Aug. 15; Twiddle, Aug. 22; Dr. Burma, Aug. 29.
