OKEMO VALLEY GOLF CLUB RECORDS THREE ACES IN JUNE

OVGC number 4LUDLOW, Vt. – Three talented and very lucky golfers made holes-in-one at Okemo Valley Golf Club during the final days of June.

The first two holes-in-one of the 2008 golf season were recorded on Friday, June 27.  Bob Ahlers, of East Wallingford, Vt., and Dr. Stephan Saunders, of Chester, Vt., aced the eighth and fourth holes, respectively. Ahlers sunk his 157-yard hole-in-one from the white tee, with an 8-iron. Saunders hit 156 yards from the white tee, using a 6-iron.

Three days later, on Monday, June 30, it was Wes Chalker, from Mendham, N.J., who aced the 14th hole from 156 yards using his 7-iron.

The names of all three golfers will be engraved on a Hole-in-One plaque that hangs inside the Okemo Valley Clubhouse to honor the fortunate few who have had the exhilarating experience of making a hole-in-one at OVGC.

Okemo Valley Golf Club is Vermont's first heathland-style golf course and was specifically designed according to the traditions of the game. The championship 18-hole golf resort features a gracious full-service clubhouse, golf academy center, indoor practice facility, 18-acre state-of-the-art outdoor training center, fully stocked pro shop and fleet of Yamaha electric carts. The layout is a par 70 that measures 6,400 yards in length and features bent grass greens, tees and fairways with multiple tee areas on each hole, ensuring playability and challenge for all ability levels. Rolling hills, moderate elevation changes and wide fairways with well-placed hazards enhance the heathland layout.
