Family Programs at Okemo Mountain Resort

There are so many great things to see and do with your family and friends while at Okemo Mountain Resort. During the summer months, our Recreation Director will have a full slate of daily activities for you to choose from. Many of the activities take place right here at the resort and are appropriate for the whole family, but we also offer excursions through Extreme Adventures Vermont, an independent guide and outfitter service. While these excursions are not all "extreme", they do take place in uncontrolled natural environments. The trips involve physical exertion and exposure to the elements and some (not all) may be inappropriate for some people, including young children.

Hike to Jackson Falls
Age: 6 and up
Meeting Place: Activities Center
Description: A guided hike up to a 50 foot cascading slide waterfall. Half of this hike will be in the woods, over some steeper terrain. Bug spray and closed toed shoes are
recommended. Duration of the hike depends on the group, but should be roughly 1 hour.
Wet-n-Wild
Age: 5 to Adult
Meeting Location: Courtyard
Description: Water balloon toss and a slip n slide. This activity may be canceled due to weather.
Jackson Gore Carnival Games
Ages: 5 and up
Meeting Place: Activities Center
Description: Carnival games with an Okemo twist; Bucket Bonanza, Trail Map Toss and Ski Pole Logic to name a few. Test your physical and mental skills. Of course there will be prizes for game winners!
Nature Scanvenger Hunt
Age: 4 to Adult
Meeting Place: Activities Center
Description: Grab some bugspray and sunscreen from your room, then head to the activities center to pick up a list of 20 items to be found in the woods near the Inn. You can also pick up the Scavenger list from the Activities Center at any time during your stay.
Plus even more! Like Pool Games, Candybag Bingo, Family Poker Tournaments, Tie Dying T-Shirts, and Predator ( a new twist on hide-n-seek). You can also sign out croquet, kickball, Frisbee, soccer, volleyball and badminton from the front desk!
Excursions through Extreme Adventures of Vermont

Here are some of the trips you might expect to be offered during your stay at the resort. Please note that these are just examples, please be sure to call ahead to learn more about specific offerings during your stay with us.
Kayak Connecticut River
Fee: $50 per person 15+ years old, $40 per person ages 8-14
Recommended Age: 8 to Adult
Meeting Place: Lobby
Discover spectacular wildlife as you tour 7 miles of the Connecticut River. The slow moving water is an excellent place to spot many varieties of birds as well as deer, moose, turtles and other animals. For more information, please see K.C. or Bill. Fee includes gear (kayak or canoe, paddle, PFD), transportation and guide.
Hike White Rocks
Fee: $30 per person 15+ years old, $20 under 15 with Adult
Recommended Age: 8 to Adult
Meeting Place: Lobby
This is a relatively easy 2 mile hike that offers wonderful views of the White Rocks cliff that almost glows at night. The White Rocks are a huge land slide of Cheshire quartzite rock that shattered during the ice age. We will also explore ice that stays in the depths of the rock crevices and slowly melts during the summer, called Ice Beds. You will be provided head lamps and flash lights so that you can explore Vermont at night. Fee includes gear, transportation and guide.

Beginner Rock Climbing Class
Fee: $95 per person 15+ years old, $85 under 15 with Adult
Recommended Age: 8 to Adult
Meeting Place: Lobby
Learn how to climb using all the latest and safest gear available. Participants in this course will learn how to anchor lines, climb, rappel, and help each other climb safely. Please bring a packed lunch and drinking water. Fee includes transportation, instruction, gear.
Whitewater Rafting Fife Brook
Fee: $42 Ages 8-15 (must be accompanied by adult)
$65 Ages 16+
Meeting Place: Lobby
Don’t miss this family float trip with an exciting grand finale. The class II and III rapids on our trip are ideal for beginner and intermediate rafters, and the unspoiled valley creates the perfect setting for wilderness adventure. Rapids such as Microwave, Freight Train, and Pinball allow crews to hone their skills in preparation for the raging whitewater of Zoar Gap. Please bring a packed lunch and drinking water. Fee includes transportation (3 hour round-trip), equipment, guide.
