10/2/2009 18th Annual Vermont Achievement Center Golf Classic
Okemo Valley Golf Club will host the 18th Annual Vermont Achievement Center Golf Classic in Memory of Pete Kelley on Friday, October 2. The best-ball competition will include 32 teams of men and women with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Two hole-in-one prizes are being offered. Mars Insurance Agency will sponsor a $20,000 (50/50 split) award on their designated hole and Automobile International will award a 2010 Saab at their designated hole. The entry fee for the tournament is $175 per player, which includes greens fees, carts, continental breakfast, player gift, prizes, a post tournament buffet at Willie Dunn’s Grille during which there will be both live and silent auctions. There will also be a chance to win a golf vacation courtesy of Pawley’s Island Golf Group. Vermont Achievement Center is a non-profit organization that has been serving Vermont’s children and families since 1937.

Hands-on activities and educational programs highlight these two versatile fall crops. Apple and pumpkin displays, apple tasting, trivia contest, cider pressing, pruning, apple scavenger hunt, pumpkin races, apples-on-a-string, making pumpkin ice cream, cooking apple butter in the farmhouse and horse-drawn wagon rides.

Sample and vote for your favorite chili at the Depot Street Park on Route 103, Ludlow, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until the chili is gone! Proceeds to benefit Rotary's good work.

Dust off your boots, shine your bling and grab your cowboy hat, Ludlow Streetscapes' Charity Hoedown is back! Invite your family and friends to a wonderful night of food, auction fun and dancing while supporting the beautification of our town in the heart of the Okemo Valley. Dinner will feature BBQ Rib "Throwdown" competition between Curtis' BBQ & Squeels-On-Wheels. Additional menu items include BBQ chicken, baked beans, coleslaw & cornbread. Alchoholic & Non-Alchoholic beverages available for separate purchase. Silent auction of unique VT experiences. Live auction of uniquely decorated Milking Stools and Custom Benches created by local artists & craftsman and two amazing vacation packages.

A not-so-scary celebration designed especially for young children. Doughnuts on a string, pumpkin carving for families, historic games, Halloween tales, plus horse-drawn wagon rides. Costume parades at noon and 2 p.m. Children in costume accompanied by an adult admitted free!
10/27/2009 Archer Mayor - Presentation
Archer Mayor will be reading from and autographing his new novel, The Price of Malice, at Ludlow's Fletcher Memorial Library on Tuesday October 27th at 7pm. Copies of The Price of Malice as well as other books in the Joe Gunther series will be available for purchase at the event.


US Airforce Band at Jackson Gore

Join us at 6:30 pm this Friday night for a special performance by The United States Air Force Band of Liberty. The band has been performing for military and civilian audiences throughout the New England region for over 30 years and you can see them live at Okemo!
