Men's Member Three-Guest
The Annual Men’s Member Three Guest at Okemo Valley Golf Course was held this past Thursday afternoon under sunny skies on a well set-up splendid golf course. The format of play was team of four one best ball net & gross. Taking top honors for the day was the team of Ted Stroh’s, Mike Morgan, Kip Horton and Todd Hotchkiss as they shot a two under par 68. Second gross was Tim Reynolds, Tim Kangas, Fred Koledo, and Paul Dorion as they shot a one under par 69. Third gross was Ron Bixby, Kirke Parsons, Derek Paul and Ryan Paul as they shot a 72. Low net was Rick Marasa, Eric Warren, Richard Lane and Bob Halko as they shot a 57. Second net was Tim Haigh, Mark Valentine, Bill Dessel and Steve Heaslip shot a 58. Third net was Mike O’Neil, Ed Peterson, Andy Stowell and Nathan Stewart as they shot a 59. Closest to the pin member for the members was Tim Reilly on 8th hole; closest to the pin for guests was Kirke Parsons on the 17th hole. Long drive on the 11th hole was won by Jim Brian, and on the 18th hole was won by Derek Paul.
Men's League Finale
The Okemo Valley Golf Club Men’s League concluded on Tuesday, Aug. 16. The final format of play was a team-of-four scramble for double points. Grabbing the top spot and moving up to second place for the season was Green Mountain Appraisals. Bill Bruno, Ryan McGuire, Doug Lemire, and Chuck Sweetman finished with a score of 29. Second place for the night, was Diamond Realty. Roger Danyew, Art O’Hare, Ken Guy and Mark Huntley shot a 30. Third place for the evening and fourth for the season was Stryhas Builders. Ted Stryhas, Terry Thayne, Brian Halligan and Bob Herbst shot a 31. Closest to the pin winners were Ed Whitman on the 4th hole, Craig Peters on the 6th hole, and Chuck Sweetman on the 8th hole. The Stephen Carr Memorial Sportsman of The Year award was presented to Ken Guy. The event included dinner and door prizes at Willie Dunn’s, and was capped off with the presentation of the Glenn Robinson Commissioner’s Cup to league victors, Honey Dew Man. Peter Girouard, Ed Whitman, Richard Bondareff and Jeff Mckenzie took over first place in the standings on week three and held onto that top spot until the finish line.

Club Championship
The Okemo Valley Golf Club’s annual Club Championship enjoyed a weekend of great weather Aug. 13 and 14. It was an especially good weekend for defending champions. The event’s format of play was an 18 hole match play match. In the Men’s Championship Flight, Dave Boggini defeated Mark Kattalia, Mark Gauthier defeated Dave Higley and Andy Bishop defeated Tom Owen. The semi-finals saw the defending Glen Boggini defeat Mark Gauthier, and Dave Boggini defeat Andy Bishop. The final match concluded with Glen Boggini defeating his older brother Dave Boggini.
In the Men’s First Flight, John Hunter defeated Randy Nowak, and Jeff McKenzie defeated JP Rousse. In the final match, John Hunter defeated Jeff McKenzie.
In the Men’s Senior Flight, Rick Marasa defeated Ken Guy, Ed Richter defeated Ron Bixby, Ken Tedford defeated Art O’Hare, and Bob Higgins defeated Dave Krett. The semi-finals saw Rick Marasa defeat Ed Richter, and Ken Tedford defeated Bob Higgins. The final match saw the Rick Marasa successfully defend his title by beating Ken Tedford.
The Ladies’ Championship Flight had Marty Harrison defeat Rosemary Burns, and Marion Pick defeat Betsy McKeever. In the final match, defending champion Marty Harrison defeat Marion Pick.
The Ladies’ Senior Flight had Peg Margiotta defeat Rita Krett, Donna Tedford defeat Martha Damone. The semi finals had Alice Thayne defeat Peg Margiotta, and Donna Tedford defeat Shirley MacDonald. The final match had Alice Thayne defeat Donna Tedford.
Ladies' League Finale
After a season of rainy Wednesdays, the Ladies’ League of Okemo Valley Golf Club played their final round under beautiful skies. Double points were on the line during the team-of-four scramble, Aug. 17. Darlene Remy, Christine Fuller, Linda West and Leann Haskel, of M&M Excavating, finished first with a score of 35. Bovine Bookkeeping came in second. Maria Tomaselli, Peg C. Margiotta, Christine Falango and Sue Bragg had a score of 35. Alice Thayne, Donna Tedford, Sue Arndt and Kathy Grant, of Tom’s Loft Tavern, placed third with a 36. Pam Cruickshank won closest to the pin on #4; Mary Rita Batesole won on #6; and Peg C. Margiotta won on #8.
The M&M Excavating team of Darlene Remy, Christine Fuller, Linda West and Sally Goffinet, came from behind to win the League Championship with a total of 123 points. Pam Cruickshank, Pat Roelants, Jeannette Conderino and Pam Bruno, of the Ornament Emporium team, held on to second place with 121 points. Maria Tomaselli, Peg C Margiotta, Christine Falango and Sue Bragg, of Bovine Bookkeeping, placed third with 120 points.
