Description |
We kick off our non-fiction book club with a discussion of Dave Egger's "Zeitoun", a riveting true story of Adbulrahman and Kathy Zeitoun being dragged through a Kafkaesque hell in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The book was published in 2009 and won an American Book Award and the Dayton Literary Peace Award in 2010. His latest, "A Hologram for the King" was a National Book Award Finalist in 2012.
One of local readers said she was "was amazed by what really went on in New Orleans after Katrina. This is a true story of a Syrian born American citizen who has a successful painting and renovation business in New Orleans and decides to stay and protect his property interests during and after the storm...an exciting read!!"
