Under the new age classifications, the U14 team is the second level of intermountain racing in Mid-Vermont. At the U14 the intensity of training and racing increases significantly and athletes are introduced to full gate slalom and super G, while continuing work in giant slalom. The training and racing at the U14 level will be similar to that in the Jones Series ("Council") last year; however there will be no invitation or Time Trial process for participation. Interested athletes must be 12 years old by December 31, 2012 and must have come through the Hopefuls program at a minimum, preferably having had experience racing as a U12. Beginning in January, the team competes in a series of Mid-Vermont Council races and many athletes will qualify for the Vermont U14 State Championships in mid-March. Athletes must join USSA, VARA and OMARA. |
